Fall Tips for Koi Health
  • Install a net to keep leaves out, they will decay and create a poor environment for the winter.
  • Remove all debris from pond.
  • Cut plants down to the soil and sink to a deep area where they will not freeze.
  • Make the decision to shut down or run your system for the winter, if you decide to run the system it must not stop running or pipes will freeze and destroy pipes or equipment.
  • Remove UV sterilizer, or if Aqua you can just remove the bulb and sleeve and purchase a winterization cap from us.
  • When water temperature is consistently below 70, switch to a wheat germ based food (Dainichi All season)
  • Continue feeding, and switch to Impact immune stimulating food the last few weeks before water temp falls consistently below 50, then stop feeding all together.
  • You must maintain a hole in the ice throughout the winter to allow gas exchange, a floating heater, or a strong airstone should do the trick.
  • Add Microbe lift Fall / Winter kit.

ALL ITEMS MENTIONED ARE AVAILABLE FROM BLUE RIBBON KOI
